Pune: A Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday remanded a 33-year-old woman from New Delhi in police custody till December 7. She had allegedly hired two contract killers who shot a woman dead on the staircase of her building at Vadgaonsheri on November 21.

A police team arrested Sandhya Puri in New Delhi and brought her here on Tuesday. The police had earlier arrested the killers Shivlal Rao and his son Mukesh, who had shot Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar of the Crime Branch when he caught them at the Pune Railway Station on November 21. The duo had allegedly shot dead Ekta Bhati (32) in the morning and they had planned to escape to Delhi by Jhelum Express when the police found them.

The police suspect that Puri’s relationship with Ekta’s husband could be the motive behind her murder.
